Founding of the Huntington’s Disease Society of Pakistan
April 24th 2024
Last week another national association was created. The Huntington’s Disease Society of Pakistan (HDSOP) joined the growing list of organisations dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Huntington’s Disease.
The venture was supported by the International Huntington Association (IHA), which aims is to see that every HD family, in every corner of the world, has access to support in their own country and in their own language.
Mustafa Mehkary, who was the driving force behind the creation of HDSOP says “I’m glad to be a part of the progress being made in addressing the needs of HD patients and families in Pakistan. It has been a privilege to work with the IHA in order to bring this to fruition. Without their assistance it would not have been possible. “
IHA president, Svein Olaf Olsen, says that “The birth of HDSOP is a truly important milestone. I want to thank Mustafa and everyone involved in this collaboration, for their persistent dialogue and dedication.” Svein Olaf goes on to say “We need to remember that there’s still a long way to go in the fight to bring better care to HD families. We will continue to advocate, not only for Pakistan but for people right across the globe.”
