The International Huntington Association is committed to helping families impacted by Huntington’s disease around the world. As such, one of our current ongoing collaborations focuses on developing patient organizations and support services in Asia. In conjunction with the Chinese Huntington Association and IHA vice president Xi Cao, the IHA is pleased to report the establishment of genetic testing procedures in Lahore, Pakistan.

Due to the collaborative effort of Dr Saqib Mahmood (Associate Professor of Genetics at the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan), Dr Sun Yi-Min (National Clinical center for aging and medicine, Shanghai) and Mustafa Mehkary (PhD student at the University of Toronto), patients may now undergo genetic testing procedures for Huntington disease locally within Pakistan. The IHA, along with Dr Saqib and Mustafa, are now spearheading the creation of a patient led Huntington Disease Association for Pakistan to focus on providing resources and support services for patients and families impacted by Huntington Disease in Pakistan.
